BlakeMarc > Sai and I had a brand new bamboo house made in her village. She has owned this land for years but we just had it cleared and a house built. We had it built before New Years so our friends visiting had a place to stay. I haven't even seen it yet, but I am looking forward to spending some time here soon. I love chilling out in Sai's Lahu village in the mountains.

BlakeMarc > It is not quite finished or cleaned up in this picture. That box on the floor is for cooking on an open fire. They don't seem to have any concern with having an open fire in a wooden house. They don't seem to mind the house filling with smoke either. Maybe this is par tof the reason they sit on the floor. It is much less smoky down there.
BlakeMarc > Our water tank, we are tapped into the village water supply which comes from a spring about 5 kms away. Since our house is at the edge of the village we should be the first house along the supply line which should be good.
BlakeMarc > Our house ended up being completely traditional including the outside toilet. I thought the plans called for an adjustment to the tradition but apparently I was wrong. We may get tourists to stay here as part of a hilltribe tourism package so I guess it is best that it is traditional. If we do that, than we will probably build a little bungalow for ourselves.
BlakeMarc > After this photo was taken, there was a toilet and hot water heater/shower installed here. The hot water is certainly not traditional but I can not handle the ice cold water that flows out of these lines, especially in the winter. It gets surprisingly cold up there!

BlakeMarc > Sai's brother Chai got married in the village so this is a bunch of our friends that went up for the wedding.
